Set as a play within a music concert this production of Much Ado About Nothing draws on 90s pop music and rock imagery to create a musical production that is wonderfully romantic, hilariously funny and truly rocks along!
The whole play takes place on Signor Leonato’s garden stage, which is established as a venue with all the public as guests. The stage is dressed with various road cases that serve as a moveable set which has all the elements of a music concert.
The play opens with Beatrice's all-girl country rock group (The Babes of Disdain) performing their hit single, 'Fair Eye’s'. They are soon upstaged by the return of Benedick and the Love Gods: back from a world concert tour and performing their hit single, 'Hey Nonny Nonny'. From here Shakespeare's battle of the sexes rom-com takes flight in a version unlike any you've seen!
